Forgiving is always hard, but you have to do it so it won't consume you. This book did a great job showing what holding on to past hurts can do to you. Trusting is not easy after you have been hurt. Good job.
This was a good lesson on forgiveness. It didn't involve the usual gang banging, sex, and drugs. It was more of a teenage love story and a refreshing change from the usual killing and violence. A great storyline. A great read.
I really enjoyed this book very cute teenage love story with lots of family secrets and having to learn how to forgive meaning let go and let God.. Great stand alone book hope Jay Bird and Ming live happily ever after with lots of babies.....
Forgiveness is a very powerful thing!!! Kaiya acted out and showed a lot if resentment towards everyone because she hadn't learned to forgive and move on. But when she finally opened up and forgave...it was a very good thing for her. I liked Jarrell because even with him not knowing why she was acting and treating him a certain way he was still there for here. This was definitely a great read!!!
This was a pretty powerful book it taught a true lesson about forgiveness. I am liking this writers style its different and inspiring. Just shows that you don't have to have sex and violence to have a good book. It flowed well and again had a real true lesson in it. I would love to see Kaiya and Jarrell a few years from now grown up with their own story.
In life we all go through our own trials and tribulations. Sometimes we pray and God tells us right then what we need to know. Sometimes we blame Him for our struggles. Demons from the past caused not just Kaiya, but also the generational curses that often bind the family dynamic, to resist Him. Lucky for her, the same God that she resisted placed people in her life to help her let go through forgiveness.
I was touched when Kaiya went back to visit her brother, not to accuse or to force him to admit his atrocities, but to let him know she was at peace despite his betrayal. As humans, we are flawed and it is difficult to admit that to someone who either we have wronged or has wronged us. The difficulty is exacerbated when we then have to face that person and admit to our mistakes. Kaiya showed the strength and resilience that only comes when we truly forgive from our hearts and not from a feeling of duty towards the other person. In this novel, Mya has captured the forgiveness that comes from the spirit, the only forgiveness that truly sets us free and places us in a closer attunement with the Holy Spirit.
Excellent book
This was a great read. It held my attention from the very beginning. I can't wait for part 2!!!
